AWARD CEREMONY

On March 12, 2014 Junior Achievement of Armenia presented the 11 NGO grant awards to the winning school representatives. The student NGOs will supplement their NGO budgets with the 120,000 drams they received to carry out their projects.

 

Armine K. Hovannisian, JAA’s Executive Director congratulated the children and explained that it was very difficult choosing out of 107 schools, these 11 winners since all the projects presented were very good. The mistress of ceremonies Anahit Manukyan continued the afternoon with an invitation to the guests to come to the podium and hand out the prizes to the students.  

 

1) Gohar Hakobyan , a long time journalist with Aravot newspaper congratulated the school of Khndzoresk in the Syuniq region as she handed the prize to them. Khndoresk’s project is to establish a play ground for the community.

 

2)      Arthur Ispiryan was delighted to hand the school of Verin Dzakhkavan in the Tavoush region the grant which will be used to create a museum displaying the history of  their school. 

 

3)      Erna Elizbaryan, hostess on Armenia TV news congratulated the school of Arazap of the Armavir region. They will be beautifying the school grounds.

 

4)      Hrach Muradyan, host of “Kisabatz Lusamutner” awarded the Photon Varjaran in Guymri. Improving the school grounds is the task they will undertake.

 

5)     Gor Harutyunyan, a host ofnDar XXI TV congratulated Aramous School of Kotayq in planning to renovate the dressing room for the physical education classes.

 

6)      Stepanavan’s institute’s project to prepare a handbook on emergency situations was awarded by  Rouzanna Ghazaryan, hostess of “Haykakan Hetq” on Kentron TV.

 

7)      Jermuk high school of Vayotz Dzor was awarded by Madlene Minassian, a nutiritionist and a public figure. They will create a botany garden which includes some of the plants registered in the Red Book of Armenia.

 

8)      Naren Chanmugam, Economic Development Office Director of USAID

was pleased to hand the award to the school of Vosketap of Ararat region to renovate the gym of the school.

 

9)      Haykanush Bagratunyan, Economic Development Officer of USAID handed the award to Martuni high school of the Gegharkuniq region. Their project is to place trash cans around the community.

 

10)  Nara Mkrtchyan, hostess of “Image” show on TV congratulated the students of

 Yervan school 52 . They will renovate the cafeteria of the school.

11)  Ray Reeder, Chairman of the Junior Achievement of Armenia’s Board of Directors awarded the school of Quchak of Aragatston region the grant so that they can realize their tree planting plan.  

 

The afternoon concluded by cutting a special cake made for the day.
